Telangana CM KCR: promise in plenary for Bangaru Telangana

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was elected president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for the eighth time in a row at the party plenary, the first after State formation, here on Friday. His elevation — a mere formality as no one had entered the fray — was announced amid thunderous applause from party leaders and cadres, who arrived for the plenary at the Nizam College grounds from across the State.

Rao, who was given a royal reception, used the opportunity to showcase his government’s achievements in the last 10 months, reiterate his commitment to turn the new State into Bangaru Telangana and appeal to the public at large to extend their cooperation to him. Addressing the gathering, Rao listed the various initiatives taken up by his government and  accused the opposition of trying to thwart his efforts. “When we said we will add 21,000 MW in the next four years, Opposition leader K Jana Reddy wondered whether we could work wonders. Yes, now I say, whatever the TRS does is a wonder,’’ Rao said.

No More Power Cuts:

The Government had tied up resources to the extent of Rs.91,500 crore to build up power capacity of 24,000 MW, TRS president KCR said.

Tapped water all households:

The hour long speech of Mr. Rao immediately after he was declared re-elected TRS president saw him reeling out several success stories of the ten-month Government. He asked the delegates to take the prestigious water grid programme as a challenge because the Government had committed not to seek votes in the next general elections if tapped water was not supplied to every household in the State.

Hyderabad Metro Rail to Airport:

Mr. Rao promised extension of Hyderabad Metro Rail project up to Shamshabad airport, Ramachandrapuram in Medak district and Ibrahimpatan in Ranga Reddy district. The infrastructure of Hyderabad which was dismantled by the previous governments will be restored, he asserted.

Loan ceiling doubled:

He said the KG to PG scheme would be launched next year while the Government will fulfill its commitment of creating one lakh jobs after the division of staff between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was completed. He also announced increase in the ceiling of loans borrowed by self-help groups from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs.10 lakh.
